From b92 Croatia’s President Ivo Josipović has expressed concern over denial of the nature and victims of the Ustasha’s WWII Jasenovac concentration camp. According to a release issued by his cabinet, Josipović is especially concerned about the fact that the allegations were made by the head of the Croatian State Archive’s Archbishop Archive. Croatian historian and priest Stjepan Razum said that there was no evidence of mass killings in Jasenovac and that Serbs “made it up”. From the Jewish Community of Rijeka Translated from Croatian After presenting a multimedia exhibition in the Project” Holocaust Education Week”, the same exhibition was extended to higher dimensions and prepared as a traveling exhibition called” Five Centuries JEWS IN THE RIVER”. The aim of the presentation was that the existing Jewish communities in the Republic of Croatia with an opportunity to get acquainted with the history of Rijeka, also able to create better cooperation. From the European Jewish Press Croatian President Ivo Josipovic has apologized to Jewish victims of the Holocaust in his country and called for restitution for Croatian Holocaust survivors. In an address to the Knesset, Israel’s Parliament, last week, he declared: “We need to look into our hearts, and to come to terms with the darkest stain in our history. One of the most pleasurable results of running a blog, such as Lemberik, is that occasionally one chances upon new Eastern European Jewish community websites. One of these is the Bejahad initiative: http://www.bejahad.com/index.html. Though no detailed information in English exist (though an English version of the website is stated to be forthcoming), and I do not speak Croatian, I gather that the purpose of Bejahad is to bridge and maintain links between Jewish communities found in the former Yugoslavia nation states.
